Preparations have begun for the fourteenth Parma Ham Festival

There is a full calendar of events for the XIV Edition of the Parma Ham Festival: appointments with gastronomy, entertainment, culture and sport.

The Festival is by now an important showcase for a top-quality Italian product whose economic activity involves 164 production companies, 5,000 pig farms and 3,000 workers for an overall turnover of 1.7 billion euro.

As usual, one of the initiative’s main events will be Open Doors, where the ham factories will open their doors to the public, granting the possibility to see the production cycle and take part in free tastings.

It will be the producers themselves who will be illustrating the secrets of processing pork haunches, which thanks to a magical combination of climate, tradition and passion, become “Prosciutto di Parma”. A shuttle bus service will be available to ferry tourists around the companies taking part.

One must is a visit to the Parma Ham and Deli Meats Museum, created in the heart of the ancient Foro Boario in Langhirano, another is to try Parma Ham accompanied by the best wines, which will be possible all over the territory.

Numerous initiatives will be enlivening the hills near Parma with dinners organised in villages, street theatre, stalls selling typical products, painting exhibitions, and moments of comic relief.

Last of all, for the entire period of the Festival, there will be special menus in local restaurants and farm holiday centres.

Final details of the programme are yet to be completed.
