Raw Materials
The pigs selected for Parma Ham are very special. Born and raised in 10 regions of central-northern Italy, the Large White, Landrance and Duroc breeds come from the best Italian heritage, and are fed on high quality products – corn, barley and whey (a derivative of Parmesan cheese production). They are heavy Italian pigs with mature, firm, compact and full-flavoured meat - the ideal raw material for a product of excellence.
